My name is James and I am a professional fly fishing instructor based in Somerset. I provide fly fishing lessons which can be purchased as a fishing gift voucher which are ideal for Birthdays or Christmas. I have 38 years of fly fishing experience and am fully insured.
My fishing gift vouchers are valid for a whole year and are on a one to one basis! however if a group wish to book i.e relatives or friends I will teach upto a maximum of 4 people, and I will advise you on the best times of the year to use your voucher. I provide everything you will need for your days fly fishing, all the tackle, rod, reel lines etc and sundry items like leaders and flies. If you book for two days or more or two people or more you will get a 25% discount.
Whether its someone who wants to learn the fine art of fly fishing, or somebody that needs to learn advanced casting techniques I can help. Maybe the person you are looking for a voucher for is a coarse or sea fisherman? I can teach them how to fly fish for trout, and those skills can be transferred to coarse or sea fishing. How is fly fishing different from coarse fishing?
As the name hints fly fishing uses an artificial fly (tied from feathers, fur etc) to imitate what the fish are feeding on. The flies are tied using natural and man made materials like feathers, animal fur, wool etc. Fly fishing is an art form, the first thing you need to learn is how to cast the fly which takes time but is very rewarding when you get it right. Fly fishing targets mainly game fish like Trout and Salmon, although can be used for coarse fish like Pike and Carp, as well as sea fish like Bass and Pollock
Coarse fishing is much easier to learn, the casting can be learnt very quickly. Coarse fishing uses completely different rods and reels and bait like maggots or worms, targeting coarse fish like Carp, Pike and Tench.
Fly fishing gift experiences
Valid for a whole year, they cost £159 for the whole day, excluding the fishery day ticket which I can get at a special discounted rate of £10 for two fish taken. The day begins with an informal chat over a coffee, we then move onto the fishing tackle and flies, talking about how fly fishing gear differs from other types of fishing tackle. Next we learn how to cast the fly and eventually get down to the fishing itself.
